The Aphrodisiac Myth
Of the hundreds of popularised aphrodisiacs around,
none have been scientifically shown to work. They
work on what is called the placebo effect - if you
think it will work, it probably will. Some socalled
aphrodisiacs can even help inhibit or
constrain sexual desire, particularly when they irritate
the kidneys, and cause itching and rashes. The only
aphrodisiacs guaranteed to work are those on the list
of what turns us on.
